IPAF MEWP Training

The International Powered Access Federation (IPAF) training programme is globally recognised, developed by leading industry professionals and available in multiple languages across a worldwide network of more than 750 IPAF-approved Training Centres.

The comprehensive range of classroom and eLearning courses covers mobile elevating work platforms (MEWPs) including boom, scissor, 1b, 3a and 3b categories of machines, mast climbing work platforms (MCWPs) and construction hoists.

Working At Height Training

Falls from height are one of the biggest causes of workplace fatalities and major injuries, often from ladders and through fragile roofs. The Working at Height Regulations 2005 are there to try and prevent death and injury from a fall from height.

Work at height means work in any place where, if there were no precautions in place, a person could fall a distance liable to cause injury. There is no minimum height restriction to classify work as being ‘at height’ and people who do so must have the necessary skills, knowledge and experience.

IPAF Site Assessments

Selecting a Mobile Elevating Work Platform can be complex and challenging. Correct MEWP selection improves the effectiveness and efficiency of MEWP operation, reducing unnecessary costs and creating the ability to work to slicker timescales.

The course guides candidates through the process of determining the optimum MEWP for a given task. Factors covered include height, reach, restrictions, set-up, hazards, permits, accessories and delivery. The course is theory-based only and incorporates an exam.

MEWPs For Managers

Companies that use MEWPs need to know what their management and legal responsibilities are and how to ensure the most effective use of MEWPs. This course covers what managers need to know for safe and effective use of MEWPs on site and including planning the job to conducting a risk assessment.

In most countries there is a requirement for employers to train all employees who plan, supervise or manage work at height and the use of equipment for such work. This training course will help you answer this and prepare you to safely and effectively manage MEWPs on site.

Manual Handling Training

Manual handling training is an essential course to take, in any field or context. The safe moving of loads can be applied to those on construction sites as it can be in the office. The back continues to be the most injured area in the workplace.

This course instructs candidates on how to assess a load along with how to correctly lift it. Covered in this training course includes informing you about health and safety in the workplace, the basic makeup of the spine and how to perform a risk assessment before making a lift. The course is theory and practical based, with a lift assessment at the end.
